Liposuction in Beverly Hills
Overview
Stubborn fat deposits on the body that do not respond to diet and exercise can be discouraging for many people. Asian patients often retain fat on their arms, waist area, inner and outer thighs, calves, and back. Liposuction, or lipoplasty, is a technique that removes fat from the desired locations to produce thinner body contours.
Our office performs liposuction in a certified operating room with a highly qualified anesthesiologist present to safely monitor the patient as Dr. Lee sculpts their desired physique.
What are the benefits of liposuction?
Less Body Fat
Liposuction is designed to remove fat pockets from selected regions of the body for a slimmer appearance. The gentle vibrations of liposuction allow for significant fat removal.
Precise Fat Removal
Liposuction techniques provide accuracy and efficiency when removing excess fat. By targeting specific areas, you can become closer to achieving your ideal body.
Increased Confidence
After excess fat has been removed from the body, many patients feel a boost in their self-esteem and have more options for clothing that fits comfortably and makes them feel good about how they look.
What Is the Liposuction Process?
Anesthetic Liquid
The tumescent liposuction approach begins with an anesthetic liquid being injected into the subcutaneous fat. Depending on their preferences, some patients also want local anesthesia.
Fat Extraction
Tiny incisions are made in the designated locations. The liposuction device produces small, quick vibrations in the fat to break it down. A suctioning device, or cannula, is used to remove the loosened fat. This approach provides a rapid procedure that gently removes more fat than traditional liposuction.
Duration
Depending on the areas being treated, your procedure can take between 15 minutes and three hours.
Concerns
Recovery
Liposuction techniques use small incisions that result in fast healing. Your incisions may be wrapped in elastic bandages or gauze to reduce swelling and compress your new body contours. Many patients can resume work and light activities after a couple of days. Prescription medications can be taken, but discomfort is typically mild and can be relieved with over-the-counter pain medication.
Scars
Scars tend to fade away over time. It can take a few months to a year for scars to significantly become less conspicuous.
Cost
Your preferences, volume of fat removed, number of areas treated, and anesthetic selected will affect your liposuction price. These options can all be discussed during your consultation with Dr. Charles Lee for an accurate price estimate.
Pain
Patients usually experience mild pain during their recuperation, which can be alleviated with pain medication. Discomfort and other symptoms often clear up within a few days.
Frequently Asked Questions
Who is liposuction good for?
If you have bothersome excess fat, retain good skin elasticity, and are healthy, then you may be a good candidate for liposuction. During your consultation with Dr. Lee, discuss your medical history and cosmetic goals to determine the best treatment plan to suit your needs.
Does liposuction address loose skin?
Liposuction can correct excess fat but is not able to improve loose skin. If you have a concern with skin laxity, you can discuss including other body contouring procedures with your liposuction procedure to reduce hanging skin.
Can liposuction get rid of cellulite?
Liposuction does not directly address cellulite. If you’re concerned about those annoying dimples in your skin, let Dr. Lee know, and he can recommend combining cellulite treatment with your liposuction.
Are the results of liposuction permanent?
The fat cells removed through liposuction will be permanently eliminated from the body. However, the remaining fat cells can increase in size with weight gain. Maintaining a stable weight with diet and exercise can help you enjoy your new slim contours for a long time.
Are there non-surgical ways to remove body fat?
CoolSculpting® offers non-surgical fat removal, but results can take up to six months to become visible, while liposuction results are almost immediate. CoolSculpting® is a great option for patients who have minimal excess fat they’d like to target.
