Brow Lift Surgery in Beverly Hills, CA

Overview

Because Asian patients do not experience aging in the face the same way as some other ethnicities, the surgical techniques used to correct the signs of aging need to be tailored to their specific needs. Facial aging in Asian patients typically appears around the eyes, brows, and mid-face. Brow lift surgery can be tailored to help Asian patients achieve a younger, more rested appearance.

What Can a Brow Lift Treat?

Drooping Brows and Heavy Eyes

Starting around the age of 30, many Asian patients develop sagging skin that causes the brows to sink toward the upper eyelid. A brow lift restores the brows to their original position to relieve pressure on the eyelids, improving upper facial definition.

Horizontal Forehead Creases

Over the years, sun damage and habitual facial expressions can cause horizontal creases on the forehead to deepen and become permanent. Brow lift surgery lifts and smooths the tissues of the upper face for a more youthful appearance.

Deep Frown Lines Between the Brows

Deep frown lines between the eyebrows can cause you to look permanently angry or tired. A brow lift can smooth out these lines, allowing you to express your emotions the way that you intended.

Concerns

Recovery

Brow lift surgery is an outpatient procedure; however, you will need to have someone present to drive you home and stay with you for the first night. You will be given specific aftercare instructions to follow during your recovery. All incisions will be covered with bandages to help reduce swelling and aid healing. Most patients can return to work within one to two weeks, but all strenuous activity should be avoided for four to six weeks or until Dr. Lee clears you.

Scars

As with any surgery, scars will be present at the incision sites. Because Dr. Lee uses endoscopic techniques for his brow lift, scarring is minimal and usually hidden by the hairline. Be sure to protect incisions from the sun, as UV rays can darken the appearance of scars. All scars will fade with time.

Cost

The cost of your procedure will vary depending on the techniques used. The final amount will also reflect anesthesia costs, facility fees, surgical fees, and other related charges such as pre- and post-operative appointments. You will be given an accurate cost breakdown during your consultation.

Pain

Brow lift surgery is performed under anesthesia to allow for a painless procedure. Once the anesthesia wears off, you may feel some discomfort and tightness. Oral medication and cold compresses can remedy this, and all bruising and swelling should subside within a few days.

Frequently Asked Questions

Am I a candidate for a brow lift or facelift?

Candidates for brow lift surgery experience dissatisfaction and insecurities stemming from the lowering of the brows or a significant level of aging in the upper face and between the brows. Candidates should be in good overall health and have realistic expectations of their results.

What procedures can be combined with a brow lift?

A brow lift is most often combined with upper and lower blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery). Dr. Lee prefers to use a technique known as canthopexy to address excess fat in the lower eyelid. With this technique, Dr. Lee uses a minimally invasive suture that tightens and lifts the lower lid.

What are the potential complications associated with a brow lift?

This surgery is considered to be a safe and reliable way to improve the youthfulness of your face. While rare, complications and side effects are possible. These risks include:

  • Adverse reactions to anesthesia
  • Bleeding
  • Infection
  • Poor wound healing
  • Scarring
  • Asymmetry
  • Changes in skin sensation

Will my results be permanent?

While the results of a brow lift are designed to be long lasting, they will not stop the natural progression of aging. Your appearance will, however, always be more youthful than if you did not have surgery.
